NATIONALLY ACCREDITED

The heart, hope, and humanity
of our world live in the
mathematics and science we

create.

The Inspire Institute advances ideas, frameworks, and learning experiences that connect mathematics, science, and STEM to human experience, community, and impact.

THE INSTITUTE

Home. Engine. Connector

The Inspire Institute operates as a home for a professional community, an engine for intellectual and field work, and a connector of lived math and science to school learning .

HOME

A community
of belonging

Inspire Fellows, annual gatherings, and a sustained community of educators, leaders, coaches, and scholars who share frameworks and commitment to human-centered practice.

ENGINE

Frameworks,
publications, learning

The IAAM framework. The Hope Wheel. The Inspire Review. Learning pathways, partnerships, and Hope Studio — the intellectual and practical output of the Institute's work.

CONNECTOR

Knowledge that flows
both ways

The Institute gathers field intelligence from educators and scholars, routes it through publications and community, and connects practitioners across schools and institutions.

Inspire Fellows

Become an Inspire Fellow.

An Inspire Fellow is an educator who believes hope is a force for learning, growth, and transformation — and who works to create mathematics and STEM experiences that help young people imagine and build better futures.

Stay connected to the evolving work of the Inspire Institute through publications, frameworks, conversations, and shared inquiry.

Frameworks

The intellectual architecture of the Institute’s work.

Developed through Dr. Lou Matthews’s two decades of classroom, coaching, and research work — the IAAM framework, the Hope Wheel, and the Relevant Task Rubric form the core of every Institute pathway, publication, and learning experience.

I
Immerse

Enter the living worlds mathematics and science students inhabit — connecting lived experience to school learning and grounding instruction in joy, agency, and impact.

A
Adapt & Design

Build experiences that begin with human realities and align to standards. Through the Hope Wheel™, we turn goals into real-time practice for agency, hope, and impact.

A
Amplify

Surface community-rooted wisdom, make it public, name its structure, and position it to drive the mathematics and science experience.

M
Mobilize

Act together — educators, leaders, networks — to shape conditions in classrooms and communities for lasting collective impact.

Practice and Professional Pathways

The Inspire Institute is organized into four intersecting learning pathways — living worlds of practice where educators immerse, adapt and design, amplify, and mobilize mathematics for meaningful impact

Four Pathways. One Ecosystem. Infinite Points of Entry.

Partnerships & Impact

We partner with universities, districts, and organizations to cultivate networks of educators committed to humanizing math and science. Our work strengthens instructional practice while building ecosystems capable of sustained, collective impact.

Stevens Institute of Technology

A sustained multi-cohort partnership in mathematics and science strengthening instructional practice across the ACES educator network through immersive design and coaching cycles.

George Mason University

A multi-session partnership with the College of Engineering and Computing advancing teaching math for impact to strengthen educator readiness and resilience in STEM across a regional network of Virginia schools.

Our cohorts  experienced 29% average growth in confidence
and ability to create math and science  experiences for their schools

Grow Practice.
Strengthen the Network.
Shape Impact.

We help educators and institutions see mathematics, science, and STEM differently as lived, human experiences shaped by context, agency, and impact.

Our pathways combine humanizing and responsive teaching, coaching, and real-time instructional design work.

Educators create and test instructional artifacts in practice, engage in sustained dialogue, and refine their work in community. Partners collaborate with us to strengthen the ecosystems that support this growth across their networks.

The IAAM Framework

Immersion

People create powerful worlds of mathematics and science. We immerse with educators inside those living worlds, connecting lived math and science to school learning and grounding instruction in joy, agency, and impact.

Adapt and Design

We design with intention. Educators adapt and build math and science experiences that begin with human realities and align to standards. Through the Hope Wheel™, we turn goals into real-time practice, shaping instruction and leadership for agency, hope, and impact.

Amplify

We amplify cultural voice, identity, and thinking through math and science. Educators practice intentional moves that surface community-rooted wisdom, make it public, name its structure, and position it to drive the math and science experience.

Mobilize

We mobilize for critical agency and measurable impact with math and science. This collective impact, where educators, leaders, and networks act together to shape real-time conditions in classrooms and communities. Impact becomes shared, visible, and sustained beyond any single lesson or leader.
